Sellar and Leach guide the side to a losing draw.

2nd. XI v. Solihull Blossomfield

On Saturday 19th May, Kenilworth’s Seconds travelled to Solihull Blossomfield for their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division Eight fixture, settling for a losing draw after wobbling chasing.

Kenilworth skipper Dan Horner asked Blossomfield to bat first, opening bowlers Jono Sparkes and Danny Boneham bowled a tidy opening ten overs, the home side only on 19 for 0, in the twelfth over change bowler Sam Leach had Clark caught by Ben Maney for 10, Blossomfield 24 for 1, the Boneham removed Seifas for 12 thanks to the safe hands of Darius Potten-Ravenshad, the home side 35 for 2 in the 17th over.
The home side then rallied, Chana and Ramachandran started to find runs easier to get, in the twenty one overs they batted together putting on 137, Ramachandran caught off Leach by Jack Howard for 68. Gopalan joined Chana, together these two went on to bat out the remaining overs, in all this, Chana went on to make a century, finishing on 106 not out, Gopalan ended on 44 not out, as Blossomfield ended on 252 for 3 off their fifty overs. Sam Leach taking 2 for 69 off twelve overs and a wicket for Danny Boneham, bowling his twelve overs straight through taking 1 for 36.

Skipper Dan Horner and James Alty opened the Kenilworth run chase but lost Alty for 2 off the bowling of Smith, Boneham next man in, but he fell without scoring, Jono Sparks then fell without scoring, also to the bowling of Smith, Kenilworth in big trouble on 6 for 3 in the seventh over. Darius Potten-Ravenshad joined Horner, a partnership was needed, together the pair went on to bat for 25 overs together, putting on 78 together, but Horner fell for 23, caught off Ramachandran. Kenilworth were finding run scoring hard work, Ben Maney hit a quick 11, Ramachandran then had Jack Howard caught for 9 and Potten-Ravenshad for a gritty 49. Kenilworth wobbling on 115 for 7 in the 41st over. Adie Sellar and Sam Leach then knuckled down, both players ended unbeaten, seeing their side to a losing draw, Sellar 24 not out and Leach 14 not out, Kenilworth finishing on 158 for 7 from their fifty overs. Ramachandran taking 4 for 33 from ten overs and Smith with 3 for 25 from eleven overs the wicket takers for Blossomfield.

Kenilworth take 5 points and remain in 6th. place in the Division of 12 sides.
