Saturday 2nd XI v Fillongley – 09/06/2012

Kenilworth Lose

The Town 2’s narrowly lost to Fillongley by a wicket in a low scoring but exciting match. Posting 141, the Town had Rupesh Sarvankar to thank as he made 40 with 3 x 4 and a six and Mark Deeley 35, as the pair put on 56 for the first wicket. Colt Mark Stranks chipped in with 19 as Brown took 4-47, Stringer 3-20 and Syaed 2-31 for Fillongley who then had Moore with an unbeaten 24 to thank for seeing them creep over the winning line to reach 143-9 in a tense climax after Smith had earlier hit 31, Rose and Stringer 24 each. Despite the best efforts of Sarvankar with 4-38, Geoff Edmunds 2-38 and a wicket a piece from Clennell, Ali Peebles and Tom Pope and a catch and stumping by Mark Stranks the Town 2’s could not secure the last Fillongley wicket and victory slipped from their grasp.
