Last pair hang in on there to get losing draw after Watts’ heroics.

2nd XI v. Coleshill 2nd XI

Promoted Kenilworth’s Second team opened their 2017 Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven season on 22nd April , with a home fixture against Coleshill CC.
Coleshill were invited to bat first in glorious sunshine, the visiting opening batsman soon got the scoreboard moving  in particular, Baker, who went on to make a very fine 103 and number three Loch with an aggressive innings of 92. The visiting captain Waugh chipping in with 31, as Coleshill amassed a huge 358 for 6 from their fifty overs. Wickets for Sam Leach 3 for 94 from twelve overs, Gareth Knights 2 for 61 and Nick Moore 1 for 41.
Things did not get any better with the bat for Kenilworth as the side made a disastrous start to their reply, slipping to 8 for 3 and 25 for 4 before all- rounder Sam Leach with a patient 10 put on 55 with keeper batsman Michael Watts for fifth wicket in 17 overs.
Watts also put on 55 with  Nick Moore for the eighth wicket, whilst young Charlie Waters with 15 also batted well.
Watts batted brilliantly for 42 overs, hitting a superb 76 (9×4), only to fall in the last over, Kenilworth’s last pair holding on for a losing draw, showing great spirit, finishing on 166 for 9 from their fifty overs. Yamja with 2 for 11, Tyler 2 for 32 and Waugh 2 for 37 doing the damage, as Kenilworth were helped with 53 extras in their total. Kenilworth take 6 points.
