Super skipper Horner leads from the front

2nd. XI v. Solihull Municipal

The 2nd XI chased down Solihull Municipal’s 210 with a fine all round performance in their Division 7 Warwickshire Cricket League clash on Saturday 21st. July.

Municipal were fortunate to post their final score after being 41-4. Mockler made 44 and Finnemore 58 as the pair put on 102 runs for the 5th. wicket for the hosts whilst Ali chipped in with 22 and Bissett 17.

Matt Casey continued his fine form with the ball as he took 4-39 off his 12 overs, Joe Poole 2-70 from his, Ian Baker 2-39 and Chris Beach 1-47. The final wicket was taken inside 4 balls of his ‘spell’ by occasional slow bowler, Mark Stranks who had earlier taken 3 catches in the outfield, as had Max Howard.

In reply, Stranks opened with skipper Dan Horner and the pair put on 76 for the first wicket before Stranks was run out for 26. In form Elliott Haynes-Sorrell then joined his skipper and they put on further 112 runs for the second wicket as he made 58 with 9 x 4 and 1 x 6 before he fell. 3 more wickets then fell before George Baines 7* and Horner who had led from the front to make a superb unbeaten 88 (11 x 4) saw the side home, putting on 13 to see their side reach 212-5 in the 49th over to give them a most deserved win for their efforts.

Finnemore took 3-22 from 4 overs and Goodger 1-27 for Municipal but their efforts were in vain.
