Rain ruins Touring side’s day

Saturday XI v. Milton Bryan

Kenilworth Saturday XI hosted Bedfordshire touring side Milton Bryan in what turned out to be a twenty five overs a side match due to persistent rain.

Kenilworth batting first got of to a decent start, with opener Andy Dadswell with 25, but Kenilworth slipped to 36 for 3, Ed Smith with 14, before he was the first wicket in a hat-trick for Cooksey for the visitors. However, young Martin McKenna with a fine 59 not out including six boundary fours, batting at three, held the innings together as Kenilworth made 130 for 8 from their twenty five overs. Cooksey with a fine 4 for 5 from five overs and Rath 2 for 11 doing the damage for the tourists.

After the tea interval, Milton Bryan started their reply in light drizzle, but with no end in sight to the rain, the umpires decided to abandon the game after ten overs, Milton Bryan finishing on 51 for no wicket, four bowlers used,  but it was difficult conditions for all at the end.
