Rain forces abandonment of match

2nd. XI v. Bronze

 

MATCH ABANDONED

On Saturday 28th July, Kenilworth’s Second team hosted their counterparts from Bronze for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division seven fixture.

Visitors Bronze were to bat first and they lost an early wicket with the score on 16, and the Kenilworth side continued to take wickets, 34 for 2 then 58 for 3. For Bronze, Karusamy made 26 and Harper with 31 were the only visiting batsmen to make a score of note, as the visitors slipped from 86 for 3 to 114 for 9 dec, three wickets falling on the score of 114, in only 29.1 overs.

There were wickets for Chris Beach with 4 for 38, Joey Poole 2 for 17, Charlie Stranks 1 for 18, Matt Casey 1 for 40 and Jack Howard’s only ball bowled 1 for 0. Jack Howard taking two catches.

The home side went out to bat hoping to beat the rain and claim the win, but lost skipper Dan Horner early, bowled for 1 by Karusamy, but the sides were forced off by heavy rain after only four overs, Kenilworth ending on 11 for 1. Mark Stranks not out 5 and Elliot Haynes Sorrell not out on 2.

The teams were unable to return, the match being abandoned, Kenilworth taking 8 points.
