Saturday 2’s lose opening game

2nd XI 2nd best at Norton

The Saturday 2’s slumped to a 125 run  defeat at Norton Lindsey in their opening 40 over friendly match of the season. The hosts had posted 204-7 with Thomas hitting 51, Hathaway 48 and Maundrell 28. The most successful bowler for Kenilworth was junior player Jonathan Mortlock as he took 2-29 from his 8 overs whilst George Webb, Danny Boneham, James Adamson and old stager, Ali Peebles each took a wicket a piece.  In reply, the side were no match to Norton and were skittled out for a paltry 79. Only the top three KCC batsmen – Dave Howe, Boneham and Adamson – reached double figures  each hitting 12 runs before losing their wickets. Norton’s Dellow took 3-11 off 8 frugal overs, Webb 2-30, Tustain 2-2  with Hall, Maundrell and Ashley each claiming a scalp as they won the match with ease and overs to spare.
