Sunday 2nd XI v Sutton Coldfield – 01/07/2012

Kenilworth Win

The Town’s Sunday 2’s claimed a good win over Sutton Coldfield as the side held firm after posting 151. Rupesh Sarvankar hit a fine 53 with 6 boundaries and a six but the mid innings and tail were held together by 16 year old Charlie Stranks who made an unbeaten 31 including sharing in a crucial and obdurate last wicket 24 run partnership. Sutton Coldfield were always up with the required run rate until the introduction of Stranks whose 8 overs only went for a frugal 14 runs and the tide turned in the Town’s favour as Geoff Edmunds took 4-10 after Ben Taylor had earlier taken 2-20 and Roger Kelsey 1-28. Two sharp run outs added to Sutton’s woe as they were bowled out for 120. Guy Pearson had a good match behind the sticks as he snaffled 2 catches and took a stumping.
