Seconds are second best ………..but after they win again!

2nd XI v RMCC

Kenilworth’s 2nd team played host to RMCC in their Warwickshire Cricket League Division 8 East match on Saturday 6th June.
RMCC batted first, after opening bowler Jono Sparks(1-17) struck an early blow, Hameed 51 and Mejaj 58 were the mainstay for the visitors as they posted a total of 202 for 6 from their 45 overs. The other five wickets were shared around with Geoff Edmunds 1 for 17, Pat Howard 1 for 25, James Adamson 1 for 34 and Charlie Stranks 1 for 42.
In reply, Kenilworth’s openers Mark Deeley 37 and Mark Stranks 17 put on 51 for the first wicket, then good knocks from Callum Jones 44 and Pat Howard with a quality 54 in which he hit 3 boundaries and a 6, young keeper batsman Dan Horner finished the game for Kenilworth with a fine 42 not out to win the game by 6 wickets with two overs to spare as they reached 203-4 in a well paced run chase. Hussain with 2 for 48 was the pick of the visitors bowlers. Kenilworth 20 pts RMCC 5 pts,  a result that sees our 2nd XI consolidate their second spot in the Division.
