2nd XI v. Stockingford 1st XI

Kenilworth 2nds consolidated their lead of Division 8 East of the Warwickshire Cricket League with a fine 7 wicket win over Stockingford with only 2 matches of their 2016 League campaign remaining.

Stockingford were bowled out for 127 despite Percival at number 3 remaining unbeaten on 43. All Kenilworth bowlers took wickets. Opening pair Freddie Davies took 1-28 and Ryan Bull 1-27. However, it was Jack Howard with a fine 3-33 that did the mid order damage, leaving Geoff Edmunds to claim 1-29 and Max Howard 1-8. Yet, it was old timer Ali Peebles who took 2 wickets from his one maiden over burst that wrapped up the Stockingford innings.

Chasing, Kenilworth reached 131-3 at a canter inside 27 overs as Jack Howard made 55 with 7 x 4 and 2 x 6, James Alty made an unbeaten 22 and Mike Watts 11 not out after Pete Huxford had made 11. Calver took 2-17 and Trapp 1-39 for Stockingford.

The win leaves Kenilworth 41 points ahead of second placed Attleborough but they have a game in hand so next weekend’s fixtures for both sides will be crucial for the destination of the title.
