13/07/2013: Saturday 3rd XI v Moreton in Marsh II

Kenilworth Win

Kenilworth’s Sam Leach was the star with the bat and George Boylin once again the star with ball as the side eased to a 105 run win in the Cotswold Hills League Match at Moreton-in-Marsh. Kenilworth had been in trouble at 90-7 before Ant Kerry steadied the side’s nerves with a fine 33 and colt Freddy Davies 21. Leach at number 8, made his maiden half century with a fine 54 not out in as he hit 9 boundaries but he ran out of partners as the last wicket put on 37 for the side. George Boylin then produced a miracle opening spell of bowling to put Moreton on the back foot at 9-4 a position they never recovered from. Boylin took 3-9 off 6 overs with George Webb taking the other top order wicket to fall. Davies chipped in with 1-20 but it was left to wily spinner Chris Beech to rip through the tail and take 5-19 (and the match ball) as Moreton were skittled out of 84 inside 25 overs.
