14/06/14: Saturday 3rd XI v Kenilworth Wardens

Davies Nifty with Derby Day Fifty

Saturday saw Kenilworth 3s record an excellent win over local rivals Kenilworth Wardens in an exciting encounter at Glasshouse Lane. Bowling first, Town reduced Wardens to 114-7 before an excellent stand of 113 between Johnson and McCunn, coming in at 8 and 9 respectively saw Wardens to a very competitive 227 from their 45 overs. The pick of the Town bowlers were Ian Baker (10-1-30-2) and Ed Smith (10-0-31-1) who probed and teased with some tight medium pace bowling. In reply, Dave Howe notched a solid 22 at the top of the order and Ed Smith capped a good all round performance by striking 36. This then set the platform for Freddie Davies to reel in the Wardens total with a cleverly constructed 67 not out. He received good support down the order from both skipper Sam Leach (21) and Jono Sparkes (22) as Town reached their target in the 41st over.
