20/07/2013: Saturday 3rd XI v Leek Wootton II

Kenilworth Win

Kenilworth 3’s recorded their second win on the bounce as they beat neighbours Leek Wootton by 42 runs after George Boylin destroyed the Leek Wootton bowling line up with a hard hitting 85 that came off only 40 balls. In his innings, he blasted 11 boundaries and 4 sixes to record his highest Senior score. Ed Smith chipped in with 25 and Chris Beech 20. Rob Hammett took 4-34, Martin Tonks 2-22 and Forster 2-31 for the villagers. Although, Leek Wootton ended on 159-10, their innings had been in turmoil as they slumped to 9-3 and then 19-4 as Kenilworth’s 13 year old startlet, Freddie Davies did the damage with the ball with his inswinging seamers. He took a superb 3-15 off his 5 over spell, opening the attack. Boylin continued his form with the ball as he took 1-8 from his 7 overs. Leek Wootton’s Andy Boylin (George and Alfie’s dad) showed some resistance in the Leek Wootton mid order with 29 and Kettle added 24. However, Beach took 3-35 and Indy Matharu 2-14. Leek Wootton soon found themselves on 108-9 but thanks to a 51 run last wicket partnership between Budd 38 not out and Hammett 15 some respectability was brought to their score as they were bowled out for 159 when Andy Smith claimed the last wicket to fall and end the match thanks to a catch in the deep by 13 year old Alfie Boylin, one of two he took during the game.
