3rd XI v. Leek Wootton

Unbeaten 5 match run ends with a heavy defeat

The 3rd’s run of recent consecutive victories came crashing to an end after they suffered a heavy 8 wicket defeat at the hands of Leek Wootton. The side could only post 140 in their innings with Geoff Hay top scoring with 30, Vish Bora 19, Andy Dadswell 16 and Indy Matharu 12 not out as Tom Lane took 3-14 from 8 tidy overs for Wootton whilst Bob Bayliss chipped in with 2-27 and Rob Hammett 2-30. Despite Kenilworth’s skipper Sam Leach taking 2-25, Leek Wootton strolled to victory as they reached 143-2 with 8 overs to spare thanks to an unbroken match winning 3rd wickets partnership of 104 runs between Jones 87 not out (11 boundaries and 2 sixes) and Moreau 24 not out had rescued them from 39-2 as the Kenilworth bowlers could not repeat their achievements of recent weeks.
