3rd XI v. Astwood Bank V

Kenilworth thirds hosted Astwood Bank fifth eleven in a 45 over a side friendly on Saturday 10th June at their Harbury ground as there was no League fixture.

Kenilworth were asked to bat first but lost two wickets in the first three overs. Further wickets fell as the home side slipped to 46 for 4, but old timer Andy Dadswell joined Uma Shanka and the pair adding 93 in twenty seven overs,  batting sensibly to help their side to post a competitive total.  Shanka fell for a fine 69, his innings contained 11 boundary fours, Dadswell finished on 30 not out as Kenilworth ended on 146 for 8 from their forty five overs. Thompson with 3 for 37 and James with 3 for 5 doing the damage for Astwood Bank.
The visitors made a slow but solid start to their reply, as opening bat batted deep. He made a fine 59 for his side, along with Millward-Base who saw his side home with 19 not out.
Astwood Bank got home with ten balls to spare, finishing on 148 for 5, to win by five wickets. Wicket takers for Kenilworth were skipper Sam Leach with 2 for 25, Gareth Knights 2 for 22 and veteran spinner Andy Smith 1 for 18, young George Baines took two smart stumpings behind the wicket.
