3rd XI v. Kineton II

Kenilworth’s 3rd XI travelled to Kineton CC to play their second team for their Cotswold Hills League Division Six fixture on Saturday 24th June.

Kenilworth were invited to bat first and openers Uma Shanka and Ant Kerry got the visitors off to a great start, putting on 65 for first wicket.  Shanka the first man out for 23, Kerry was then joined by Andy Dadswell. After Kerry fell for 22, Ed Smith made a brisk 23, but Dadswell stayed firm and going on to make a fine 55 – his innings containing 8 boundary fours. He went onto put on 60 with number seven Ben Maney who made 24 including one big six. A late order cameo’s from Tom Skinner with 16 not out and Pete Alty 8 not out saw Kenilworth recording a season’s best total of 227 for 8 from their forty five overs. The main wicket takers for Kineton were Clarke with 3 for 40 from ten overs and Hendy with 3 for 33 from ten overs.
 
Kineton lost an early wicket in their reply, as the evergreen seamer Pete Alty returned superb figures of 2 for 15 from his ten overs. The hosts were in deep trouble at 31 for 5 as Alty’s new ball partner Ed Smith was in equally devastating form,  returning figures of 2 for 14 from seven overs. Kineton’s batsman never looked comfortable against the visitors attack, as Nick Moore with 2 for 44 and young seamer Matt Dadswell 1 for 24 off six overs took the visitors to the brink of victory. It was left to spinner Tom Skinner to take the last three wickets, as he recorded unbelievable figures of 3 for 2 off 4.4 overs. Kineton were all out for 107, as only Logan and Hutchings both making 18 recording a double figure score.
 
Kenilworth the winners by a huge 120 runs and collected the full 24 points.
