Alvechurch far too strong for the 3rds.

3rd XI v. Alvechurch & Hopwood 3rd XI

Kenilworth hosted high flying Alvechurch 3’s at their Harbury ground on Saturday 1st July for their Cotswold Hills League Division Six fixture.

Kenilworth won the toss and put the visitors into bat, skipper Sam Leach struck an early blow thanks to a smart catch from Andy Dadswell, that left the visitors 2 for 1. Tom Skinner then reduced Alvechurch to 32 for 2 but Muzafur began to rebuild his sides innings, he and Duggins went on to add 96 together for the sixth wicket after they were struggling on 121 for 5. Duggins made 35 but Muzafur went on to fall agonisingly short of a hundred, as skipper Sam Leach removed him for 98. Leach went on to return fine figures of 4 for 40 from ten overs. There were wickets too for Tom Skinner with 2 for 55, Nick Moore 1 for 30 from nine overs, spinner Andy Smith 1 for 26 off six overs and seamer Indy Matharu 1 for 50 from ten overs.  Skelt added 33 for the visitors, who finished on a decent 256 for 9 from their forty five overs. There were two catches each for Andy Dadswell and Uma Shanker in the outfield but in truth the home side had a mixed day in the field.
Kenilworth had the worst possible start to their reply, losing a wicket in the very first over. Further loss of wickets had the home side in trouble at 60 for 4.
Andy Dadswell went on to top score with 28 batting at number three, skipper Sam Leach with 21 including a big six, Nick Moore 15 and Ben Maney with 14 were the only home batsmen to reach a double figure scores. Eventually the side were all out for only 108 in the 39th over. For the visitors, Singh with 3 for 30, Malik 2 for 23 and Khan also 2 for 23, as Alvechurch won by a huge 148 runs, with Kenilworth taking five points for their efforts.
