Long Itchington too strong for the Thirds

Long Itchington II’s  212-5 beat Kenilworth 105-6 by 106 runs. Win/Lose match.

 

Long Itchington proved too strong for the Town’s 3’s with the bat and with the accuracy of their bowling. Opener Campbell made a fine 90 and Greaves 41 not out and Pratt 23 in the side’s total of 212-5 in their CHL Shield B mini-League match. Kenilworth’s Ed Smith took 3-18 bowling with his fiery pace whilst youngsters Kieran Umashanker and Louis Smithson took the other wickets to fall.

In reply, Kenilworth’s batsman struggled with the accuracy of Long Itchington bowling attack and from early on the result was never going to be in doubt. Hart took 2-6 from his fine 8 overs and Hill 2-13 from his 7 overs whilst Bostock and Hawkesworth took the other wickets to fall as Kenilworth could only muster 105-6 when their innings closed. Smith hit an entertaining unbeaten 28 with 4 boundaries late on, whilst obdurate youngster, Yash Joshi, made a patient 21 and David Smithson 15 in the side’s total.
