Wanderers win at a canter

Sunday XI v. Wanderers

On Sunday 21st May, Kenilworth hosted Leicestershire side Wanderers in a forty overs a side friendly.

Choosing to bat first, Kenilworth were soon in trouble at 18 for 2 and 44 for 4 as the home side found scoring runs hard. A further collapse of home wickets left them teetering on the brink at 85 for 9 off thirty three overs. Only a late cameo of 28 not out from Jack Howard batting at number nine with his last wicket partnership with old timer Andy Smith put on 33 runs – the highest of the innings helped the home side limp to 118 all out in the last over after a patient 19 from Nathan Chant, 13 each from Danny Boneham and Jorjeet Singh. Divyesh with 3 for 6, Paresh 2 for 16 and Ketel with 2 for 24 proving to be too good for Kenilworth’s batsmen.

The Wanderers openers got the visitors off to a flying start, putting on 85 for the first wicket in only fourteen overs until veteran slow bowler Andy Smith (1 for 26) removed Sukih for an aggressive 45, but his opening partner Tahir with 42 not out and number three Dev with 19 not out saw their side home with nineteen overs in hand, finishing on 121 for 1. Wanderers the winners by nine wickets.
