CLUB’S END OF SEASON SIX A SIDE DAY

A fun time had amongst friends

On Sunday, 15th September, we at Kenilworth Cricket Club played host for a six-a-side cricket tournament. The weather could not have been better all day as the sun was out and the clouds stayed away, perfect for a day of cricket. The tournament contained 5 teams: KCC ‘A’, KCC ‘B’, KCC under 15s, Leek Wootton, and Steve’s VI.

It all kicked off just after 11am in beautiful conditions, with a game between KCC ‘A’ and KCC under 15s, in which KCC ’A’ came out on top, however there would be some strange results later. As in the final game of the day, KCC ‘A’ were comprehensively beaten by KCC ‘B’, who had previously been beaten by KCC under 15s in the early afternoon.

The whole day proved to be as evenly balanced as possible, as incredibly every single team managed to win two games and lose two games. Looking at how all the teams played and the good spirit that was shown amongst all players, it was only fair that we concluded the tournament as a five-way tie, as we didn’t think it was fair to award the win on number of boundaries hit. It was enjoyable to see people of all ages playing, with the ages of the players ranging from 13 to 55.

A special thanks is in order for Hannah, Geoff, Jonty and others who volunteered to work the bar, umpire and score the matches throughout the day, as without these people the day would not have been possible. Thank you also to those who played and to those who came to watch, as you all made it a great atmosphere to be a part of.

It was a great way to round off the 2019 season, we might just have to do it again next year…!!
