Danny Boneham strikes his maiden century

Sunday XI v. Marton

Young Danny Boneham hit his maiden century during the match against Marton at our Warwick Road ground on Sunday 30th. April in a 40 overs a side friendly.

Visitors Marton batted first and after the loss of early wickets to the ageless Ali Peebles (3 for 34) off eight overs, they regrouped, Ruban with 63 and Khan with 58 added an aggressive partnership of 104 for the fifth wicket. Several missed opportunities in the field for Kenilworth helped Marton reached 221 for 6 from their forty overs, two smart run outs and a wicket for captain Geoff Edmunds (1 for 9) added to Peebles haul.

Kenilworth’s young openers Danny Boneham and Dan Horner (18) put on 55 for the first wicket, young Elliot Haynes-Sorrell with 16, then added 71 for with Boneham for the second wicket, but this was to be young Danny Boneham’s day as went on to post his maiden century, his innings of 110 containing 11 sparkling boundaries, it was truly a magnificent innings, one he will always remember.
Unfortunately Boneham’s brilliant effort was to be in vain, Charlie Waters (16) and Alex Cockburn (12) tried hard to get their side home, but the hosts finished on 194 for 6 from their forty overs. Sufi with 2 for 36 and Lawson 1 for 25 the most successful bowlers for the visitors.
Marton the winners by 27 runs, on a day when young Danny Boneham won’t forget.
