Sunday XI v. Norton Lindsey

On Sunday 31st July Kenilworth travelled the short distance to play Norton Lindsey in a forty over friendly.
Kenilworth opted to bat first, after an early wicket, Mark Stranks with 24 , together with number three Guy Pearson added a rapid partnership of 99 for second wicket, Pearson smashed 86 including 16 boundary fours off only 50 balls. Charlie Stranks with 26, Martin McKenna 23 and a solid 25 not out from Sam Leach towards the end got the visitors to a respectable 213 for 7 from their forty overs, Webber with 2 for 43 bowling well for Norton, as the players went off to enjoy a wonderful tea.
Norton started their reply in positive fashion, openers Rushton and Kite 35 put on 97 for the first wicket, Rushton went on to make a fine 67, their dismissals sparked a collapse, the home side slipping to 126 for 5 with Charlie Stranks doing the damage with 3 for 42 from eight overs. Norton number six Dellow hit a quick fire 52 before he became one of Sam Leach’s four victims from six overs, finishing with 4 for 21 to add to his runs. There were wickets too for Geoff Edmunds 1 for 7 and Matt Dargan 1 for 35.
Three smart catches behind the stumps were taken by young keeper Elliot Haynes-Sorrell and a stumping, as home side Norton Lindsey finished on 184 for 9 from their forty overs. Kenilworth take the honours, winning by 29 runs.
