Sunday delight as Club gets back to winning ways

Kenilworth (Sunday XI) v. Lapworth

Friendly – 40 overs a side – Win/Lose format

KENILWORTH WON BY 22 RUNS

Kenilworth 240-6 (40 overs) beat Lapworth 218-10 (38.2 overs) by 22 runs.

 

The Club got back to winning ways for the weekend with a 22 runs win against Lapworth in a 40 overs a side friendly despite the best efforts of the visitors’ Pugh who made a century in the run chase. Batting first, Kenilworth posted a challenging 240-6, with Dan Horner hitting 46 (5 x 4) and Keeran Umashanker 33 (5 x 4) putting on 73 for the 1st. wicket. Yash Joshi then added 37 (5 x 4) as he teamed up with Will Thompson in mid order and the pair put on a further 75 runs for the 4th. wicket. Thompson went onto make 50 (8 x 4) in his knock. Griffin took two wickets for Lapworth whilst Aayan, Glynn and Rana took one apiece.

In reply, Lapworth’s number 5, Pugh, made a sparkling 109 before he fell after Dickinson had earlier made 37 and Tanvir later chipped in with 14 but they were the only three batsmen to reach double figures. The side suffered three sharp run outs as Tom Best took 3-41, Thompson 2-56, Horner and Umashanker a wicket each aided by Joshi who held onto two catches behind the stumps as the Lapworth side were bowled out in the penultimate over for 218.
