Sunday League promotion despite defeat

Runs flowed and Runners Up spot secured

Kenilworth’s Sunday XI rounded off the Arden Sunday Cricket League Division 3 campaign with promotion despite their defeat to Divisional winners, Solihull Super Kings in a high scoring match.

Solihull Super Kings 287-10 (39.4 overs) (20 points) beat Kenilworth 244-9 (40 overs) (10 points) by 43 runs.

 

Despite being beaten by Divisional winners, Solihull Super Kings, by 43 runs Kenilworth secured second place in the table and gained promotion in their top of the table clash in their last Sunday League match of the season where the runs flowed in a high scoring match.

Super Kings posted 287-10 with Chana hitting 61, More 56 and Beniwal 50. For Kenilworth, Kapil Dubey took 2-31 and Tom Skinner 2-46 whilst there was a wicket each for Dan Horner, Louis Smithson and Matt Casey. Horner also took 3 outfield catches and a run out, of which there were three in the Super Kings innings. In reply, Kenilworth couldn’t quite keep up with the required run rate and ended the day on 244-9, despite George Baines posting 46 (9 x 4), Horner 43 (5 x 4), Casey 33 (3 x 4, 1 x 6) and Yash Joshi 28 (3 x 4). The side were rewarded for their fine season as Divisional runners-up and promotion for the 2022 season.
