Sunday XI v Standard

Singh when you’re winning

A Kenilworth XI took on Standard CC in a friendly at Warwick Road on Sunday. In a close game, Kenilworth just managed to prevail with Jorjeet Singh hitting the winning boundary off the 3rd ball of the last over to consolidate his ‘ice man’ reputation. Batting first, Standard had posted 175 from their 40 overs with spin twins Singh (2-16) and  Charlie Stranks (2-33) in fine fettle with the ball while the Kenilworth outfielders clung on to a number a decent catches. The Kenilworth chase then got off to a flier with fluent knocks from openers Phil Edmonds (37) and Rob Gardner (38). However, following a bit of a middle order collapse, it was left to Singh (22 not out) to see Town home.

The Club’s new photographer by appointment from the Chairman, Luke Kerry, has taken some great pictures of the game.
