Sunday XI v. Coftonians

40 overs a side Friendly

WON BY 60 RUNS

Kenilworth 256-5 (40 overs) beat Coftonians 196-10 (34.3 overs) by 60 runs.

The Sunday XI posted 256-5 in their 40 overs and then were in danger of losing the match as Coftonians’ openers put on 154 inside 20 overs for their first wicket but the visitors then lost 5 wickets for 9 runs which changed the direction of the match. Dan Horner and teenager Joe Tate had opened for the Town putting on 89 runs together for the first wicket with Horner making 50 (6 x 4). Tate then teamed up with Dhruv Vyas and the pair out on a further 95 runs together. Tate went onto make a fine 70 (6 x 4) continuing his solid season and Vyas 53 (6 x 4, 1 x 6). Shyaan Imam chipped in with 29 not out and Sam Leach made an unbeaten 20 in the Town’s total with Hussain taking 3-36 for Coftonians. In reply, Patel and Yash made light work of the bowling until Patel who made 71 was caught by Vyas off Imam’s bowling. Yash then quickly fell hitting 65 after Leach struck – one of his 4 wickets (4-32) and that changed the course of the game, as no one else reached double figures with the Town bowlers firmly on top and the side were soon bowled out for 196 inside 35 overs to give the Town victory by 60 runs. A. Joshi took 2-14 with a wicket a piece for Imam and Matt Dadswell, in addition to Leach’s earlier haul. Ollie Berry took two outfield catches, as did Vyas, in a good all round performance by the Town side.
