The 2016 Season ends with Sunday side losing heavily

Sunday XI v. Enville

Kenilworth finished the 2016 season with a  home forty over a side friendly against Enville on Sunday 18th September.
Enville batted first on lovely late summers day, Matthew Dadswell (1 for 44), removed one of the Enville opening bats in the third over, sending knocking his leg stump flying, his new ball partner Sid ‘evergreen’ Peebles bowling his wily seam, bowled a fine spell of 1 for 21 from his eight overs, but after the loss of those early wickets, opening bat Roberts with a fine 82 and Miller with an aggressive 65 eventually started to put their side into a commanding position, Enville finishing on a very decent 216 for 6 from their forty overs, other wickets went to Jono Sparks 1 for 24, skipper Geoff Edmunds 1 for 34, and seamer Sam Leach 1 for 48. There was also a smart run out and fine catch on the boundary by young Sparks, so off the players went for the last cricket tea of the season.
Kenilworth had a terrible start on their pursuit of the runs, somehow managing to fall to 31 for 6, before being dismissed for a paltry 63 all out in only 23 overs, Henry Curran with 23, Danny Boneham with 12 and Jono Sparks with 10 made double figures as Parfitt 4 for 14 from eight overs and Gill 2 for 28 doing the majority of the damage, as Kenilworth ended a decent season on a very low note, losing by a huge 153 runs.
So as we say goodbye to 2016 season, we look forward to a new chapter for 2017.
