Sunday XI v. Woodleigh

Kenilworth’s Sunday XI  hosted Woodleigh for a forty overs a side friendly on Sunday 25th June.

Visitors Woodleigh were asked to bat first and seamer Indy Matharu (1 for 28) struck an early blow, reducing the visitors to 5 for 1, but Taylor and White went on to put a huge partnership of 158 for the second wicket, White survived two chances before he reached 50, off 54 balls, and went to make a hard hitting 106 – his second 50 took only another 25 balls, (12 x 4 & 4 x 6). Taylor made a more sedate 56, as the home bowler’s struggled to contain the Woodleigh batsmen and they visitors ended on 226 for 6 from their forty overs. Other Kenilworth wicket takers  were Matt Dadswell 1 for 29 from 8 overs and 2 for 36 from 7 overs from Tom Skinner whilst Henry Curran affected two smart run outs.
Kenilworth lost Henry Curran for 10, one of four lbw decisions, but Danny Boneham (24) added 44 for the second wicket with Matt Casey (25), batting at four. Adam Huxford made a solid 57 (7 x 4), but the home side were always behind the rate, Elliott Haynes-Sorrell added 18 and Darius Potten-Ravenshad finished 30 not out, but Kenilworth were to ended just short on 205 for 9 from their forty overs.
Woodleigh the winners by 21 runs. White finished his fine day with 2 for 22 and Price 1 for 21 off eight tidy overs. A decent game of cricket, edged by the visitors.
