Seconds well beaten in the sun

2nd XI v. Solihull Blossomfield

Kenilworth 2nd team hosted visitors Solihull Blossomfield on a glorious Saturday 5th May for their Warwickshire Cricket Division Seven fixture.

Put into bat, Kenilworth lost an early wickets at 11 for 1, then 35 for 2. The home sides batting struggled to make any impact on the Blossomfield bowling attack, batting at number five, young George Bains making 15, before being run out. Further wickets left Kenilworth at 74 for 5, Matt Casey made 25, but only two batsmen made a double figure score. Kenilworth were indebted to Blossomfield for getting the score to 125 all out in the 46th over, with an unbelievable 54 extras in their total. Lunge with 4 for 17 and Kinman 2 for 27 doing the main damage for the visitors.

Blossmfield made a steady start in their reply, with the opening pair putting on 36 for the first wicket, the second wicket falling at 38, and at 45 for 3, Kenilworth appeared to be back in the game, but Wilson with 25, Seifas with 36 not out, together with Goolan 18 not out, saw their side to a six wicket win, finishing on 129 for 4 in the 40th over. There were wickets for spinner Chris Beach, who took a tidy 2 for 23 off ten overs, skipper Geoff Edmunds 1 for 11 and seamer Joe Poole 1 for 30. There was a catch each for Mark Stranks and Danny Boneham, but in the end, Kenilworth were well beaten, and collected just two points for their efforts.
