16/09/2012: Sunday 1st XI v Coventry & NW

Kenilworth Win

Kenilworth’s Sunday 1’s won the Warwickshire Sunday League Division 1 Cup Final – the John Whitehouse Trophy – when they beat Coventry & NW by 42 runs in the 40 overs a side match to cap a fantastic 2012 Sunday League campaign to claim the WSL “double”, after already being crowned League Champions. The Final was fittingly held at the Club’s Warwick Ground in front of a good crowd. Kenilworth posted 243-4 thanks to two stunning innings – from Dave Edmunds, who blasted an unbeaten 91 in which he hit 6 boundaries and 5 sixes and from opener Gregg Peebles who was in sublime form and notched up a hard hitting 83 – hitting 9 boundaries and two sixes. Adie Sellar chipped in with 19, Rupesh Sarvankar 14 and James Nason 10. Mike Cook took 2-47, Matt Horsley 1-62 and Johal 1-55 for Coventry. Chasing, Coventry started well and pressurized the Kenilworth bowling attack to cause nerves amongst the crowd as Jack Horsley 69 and Harry Horsley 65 looked well set and shared in a 140 run first wicket partnership. They made great progress for 27 overs. However, once they fell, wickets started to tumble regularly against an upbeat Town outfit who now sniffed victory with all bowlers claiming wickets combined with an excellent fielding performance. Wily Geoff Edmunds led the way with the ball to take 3-35, whilst son Dave took 2-45, Sarvankar 2-36, Khan 1-46 and Phil Edmonds 1-34. Coventry slumped from 153-1 losing their next 7 wickets for 45 runs. Guy Pearson took 3 great outfield catches whilst keeper Mike Watts took a stumping and a catch behind the sticks. Overs ran out and Coventry closed the day on 201-9, leaving Kenilworth to celebrate their achievement of winning both the Division 1 League title and Cup in the same season.

15/09/2012: Saturday 2nd XI v Ansley Sports

Winning Draw

The Kenilworth 2nd XI rounded off their season with a solid winning draw to finish the 2012 season in 3rd place of the 2nd XI Division 2 of the Warwickshire Cricket League. In a high scoring match, the side notched up 255-8 with Rupesh Sarvankar leading the way with yet another superb batting display to post a fine 90, hitting 10 boundaries and 2 sixes as he put on 108 for the first wicket with Stuart Clennell who made 29. Youngsters, James Alty and George Boylin added 32 and 31 respectfully as Gosling took 5-43, Brainbridge 2-49 and Davies 1-86 for Ansley. In reply, Ansley went on to post 235-8 as Davies made 96 and Smith 65. However, it was Kenilworth’s Matt Watts who spoilt their chance of victory as he took a season’s best of 6-40 off 10 fine overs with his leg spin variation. He was backed up by 1-32 from Geoff Edmunds’ tidy 14 overs spell and Sarvankar chipped in with 1-34 from his spell as the sides settled for a draw and the 2’s ended their season with yet another solid and promising performance.

08/09/2012: Saturday 2nd XI v Blossomfield

Kenilworth 2’s eased to a 9 wicket victory at Solihull Blossomfield after Jaesh Naik ripped through the Solihull line up taking a stunning 6-25 off his 14 overs to peg them to 135-10 despite Mohan making 45 and Mahajan 25. Matt Bolshaw claimed 2-38 whilst fellow youngsters George Bolin and Watts Jnr took a wicket a piece. Kenilworth romped to 137-1 inside 28 overs as Rupesh Sarvankar conducted a one man onslaught as he made an unbeaten 93 in which he hit 8 boundaries and 4 sixes as he shared in a 101 run unbroken partnership with Steve Kelley who was 21 not out when an easy victory was achieved.

02/09/2012: Sunday 1st XI v Knowle & Dorridge

Kenilworth Win

Champions Kenilworth 1’s consolidated their position at top of the pile as they enjoyed a 18 run win over Birmingham League outfit, Knowle and Dorridge after posting 202-8 thanks to 60 from James Nason, Rupesh Sarvankar 57 and an unbeaten 33 from Mike Watts despite Roberts taking -37 and Kenny 3-44 for K & D. In reply, K & D could only muster 184-9 with Lee posting 60 and Harding 46 after Nason had taken 3-13 and Gregg Peebles 2-37 and Geoff Edmunds, Watts Junior and Sarvankar a wicket each with the ball.

01/09/2012: Saturday 2nd XI v Solihull Municipal

Winning Draw

Kenilworth 2’s earned a winning draw against Solihull Municipal after posting 154-10 with Rupesh Sarvankar top scoring for the side with 47, with youngsters James Alty chipping in with 28, Tom Pope 23 and Rob Gardner 22. I Hughes snapped up 5-36 and Acton 2-38 for Municipal. They could only make 123-8 in reply despite T Hughes hitting an unbeaten 33 against a tidy Kenilworth bowling attack as Sarvankar claimed 3-25, Geoff Edmunds 2-27 off 15 fine overs whilst Pope, Matt Bolshaw and Jaesh Naik took a wicket a piece.
