All Stars at the Club

Juniors take over the ground on Sunday 19th May

Sunday saw 36 children attend the All Stars coaching session at 9.30am and meet Twinkle the All Stars mascot. 24 U8s then took part in our own tennis ball tournament whilst the U9s took on Studley. Freddie Kelley took his first wicket for the club with some accurate bowling and Atreya Bhave struck the ball hard but their efforts were in vain as the U9s were over powered by a strong Studley side.

Meanwhile the U11s were playing in a hardball fixture at Leek Wootton and put up a spirited and competitive display narrowly losing by 19 runs, having lost 4 more wickets than Leek Wootton (at a cost of 20 runs).

The afternoon saw the U13s take to the field at home versus Bablake Old Boys. Kenilworth pegged Bablake back well and contained them to 109-8. Wickets were shared around the Kenilworth bowlers with Elliott Hunter, Henry Thomas, Akaash Verma, James Hughes and Andrew O’Reilly all having success. With no one fancying the opening role, James and Henry agreed to stride to the crease and managed to see off the opening bowlers leaving Will Sheehan and Patrick to shine with the bat against the spin to place us in contention. Patrick forced to retire having scored 30 left Will batting excellently at the crease but sadly he ran out of partners and was stranded not out with 29. Kenilworth all out for 93 in the nineteenth over.

A super day’s cricket for the juniors.
