Saturday 1st XI
The first eleven travelled to Binley Road to face Coventry and North Warwickshire to face their second eleven. Kenilworth won the toss and elected to bowl first.
For the home side, Daljeet Singh scored an impressive 94 before being bowled by Matt Casey. Keenan Khatavar was the next highest contributor with 20. For the K’s, Steve Rhodes and Paul Lawrence both claimed a wicket apiece. Matt Casey took 2 for 42 and the best figures were Connor Shingler’s 3 for 37.
In reply, Kenilworth had to settle for a draw as the away side finished their 50 overs seven wickets down with 172 runs on the board. Captain Adam Huxford top scored with 44 not out, closely followed by Tom Booker who contributed with 40 at the top of the order. The best figures for the home side came from Toby Palmer with a tidy 3 for 22 from his 9 overs.
Kenilworth take 9 points from the game and are 10th in division 2.
Saturday 2nd XI
The second eleven hosted local rivals Kenilworth Wardens at Warwick Road with the home side winning the toss and deciding to bowl first.
Wardens posted 223 for 9 from their fifty overs, a fast start was reigned in by the Kenilworth bowlers as scores of 60 from Malayampuram and 88 from Pitkin were the only contributions of note for the Wardens. Wickets were spread for Kenilworth as Nadeem, Yogash, Imam and Azhar all claimed a wicket each, Azhar also contributing an impressive run out from the boundary. However, the best figures came from youngster Ben Kelley with 3 for 55 from his 12 overs.
In reply, Kenilworth chased Wardens total 4 wickets down and with 4 overs to spare. Joe Tate made 58 and Tousef Azhar contributed 16 whilst Ahsan Nadeem made a terrific 130 not out , including 11 boundary fours and 4 sixes , to seal an impressive win for the home side. Anoop Chami claimed the best figures for Wardens with 2 for 43 as the away side found wickets hard to come by.
Kenilworth take 20 points from the game and go 8th in division 6 east.
Saturday 3rd XI
The 3s travelled to Rowington for a pre-season friendly where the home side won the toss and elected to bat first.
Rowington made 185 for 6 from their 40 overs. Top scorer was J Plant who made 69 not out, accompanied by M Miles with a swift 43 not out from just 33 deliveries. For Kenilworth there was a wicket a piece for Ebby Thompson and Manni Toor whilst Matt Dadswell claimed 2 for 50. The best figures were produced by Ben Clarke with an impressive 2 for 19 off his 8.4 overs.
In reply, Kenilworth chased the set total with 8 balls to spare. There were contributions of 23 and 29 from Mandava and Blechingdon respectively. Top contributor once again was Ben Clarke with a well made 63 off 57 deliveries. Powell and Turrell took a wicket each for the home side whilst Bird and Plant claimed two each. R Young produced the best figures of 2 for 8 off of 6 overs.
Kenilworth win by 2 wickets in preparation for the new league season.
