Passing of a former Member

Don Hitchcock

The Club has been advised that former player, captain and member of the Club, Don Hitchcock, died yesterday, aged 95 years.

Don played for many decades at our Club and went onto become the Chairman of the West Midlands 3rd XI CCC for many years before it was amalgamated into the Warwickshire County Cricket League.

Don was very much walking history, being there on D Day +1.

A most articulate, intelligent, down to earth man with a great sense of humour with so many stories and accounts that he achieved throughout his lifetime. Such an interesting bloke. Unassuming. Not there for the limelight. Pure History. A sad loss. Fondly remembered by those that came into contact with him. A true gentleman.

The Club passes on its sincere condolences and thoughts to Don’s wife, Mary and to his children and the rest of his family at this very sad and difficult time.

This post will be updated further, in due course, with details of Don’s Funeral and Celebration of his Life when known.

Hon. Secretary, KCC
