Sunday XI bounce back to winning ways to top the Division

A solid performance sees side lead ASCL’s Division 3

The Sunday XI chased down the hosts score with 4.4 overs in hand to win and lead Division 3 on a good weekend where all 4 sides claimed victories in their matches.

 

 

Sunday 1st XI

Kenilworth v. Hampton & Solihull

Arden Sunday League – Division 3 – 40 overs a side – W/L

WON

Hampton & Solihull 141-10 (3 points) (39.5 overs) lost to Kenilworth 142-4 (20 points) (34.2 overs) by 6 wickets.

 

The 1st. XI recorded another win that sees them remain table topping in Division 3 of the Arden Sunday Cricket League. Hampton had been bowled out for 141 with a ball of their innings remaining after having slipped to 64-8 but reached their score as Rollinson hit 60 and shared in a 9th. wicket partnership of 64 runs with number 10 Longe 18 not out after Mackey had earlier made 20 but they were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Kenilworth’s Matt Casey was on song with the ball, taking a fine and frugal 3-4 from his 8 overs of which 5 were maidens. Fellow spinner, Tom Skinner, snapped up 3-15 whilst Christian Mortlock took 2-35 with Jono Sparks involved in the other two wickets to fall, taking one and running out Hampton’s last man with Dan Horner pouching two catches behind the sticks. In reply, Kenilworth easily reached 142-4 in the 35th. over to claim victory as Horner made 23 (4 x 4) to kick start their innings off. George Baines 36 (4 x 4) then shared in a 43 runs 4th. wicket partnership with Jono Sparks before the latter teamed up with Dhruv Vyas 18 not out (1 x 4, 1 x 6) to share in a match winning unbroken 49 runs partnership as Baines completed his half century and end the day unbeaten on 50 (7 x 4) despite Rollinson taking 2-25 for the hosts, to give Kenilworth a deserved victory.
