3rd. XI win first title for decades
The 3rd. XI won their League Divisional title in the Cotswold Hills League despite the rain that saw their match abandoned, whilst the 1st’s. won their match in their rain affected game with the 2nd’s match falling victim to the inclement weather.
1st XI
Kenilworth v. Fillongley
Warwickshire Cricket League Division 1 – W/L/D – 50 overs a side

Fillongley 134-10 (47.1 overs) (2 points) lost to Kenilworth 135-4 (26.1 overs) (20 points) by 6 wickets.
The 1st. XI not only beat the weather but visitors Fillongley by 6 wickets to record a very good win with 11 overs to spare after restricting Fillongley to 134-10. Skipper, Connor Shingler took a very impressive 4-11 from his 12 overs, Matt Casey 3-26 from his 10 overs whilst Darius Potten-Ravenshad took 3-12, despite Carty making 50 and Mitchell 36 for the visitors in their innings. Kenilworth had lost 13 of their overs to reach the target but did so in the 27th. over as youngster George Baines saw the side home to victory with his unbeaten 58 (7 x 4, 1 x 6), after Tom Booker had earlier made 27 (5 x 4) and Stuart Cope 23 (5 x 4) as the side reached 135-4. Six sides now chase the two promotion spots with 3 matches of the season left.
2nd XI
Kenilworth v. Leamington Khalsa

Rain brought an early end to the 2nd’s match at Leamington Khalsa as the match was abandoned after 29.5 overs following two weather interruptions with Kenilworth on 140-4 that left Adey Sellar unbeaten on 36 (6 x 4) after Dan Horner had hit 34 (6 x 4), Dave Smithson 22 (4 x 4) and Shyaan Imam 20 (3 x 4). With 3 matches to go, the side’s promotion hopes continue in what will be a close fight for the top two spots in the Division with 5 sides in the hunt for silverware.
3rd XI
Kenilworth v. Bearley

In a bittersweet end to their League season, the 3rds. were crowned divisional winners in the Cotswold Hills League after their final match in Division 6 was abandoned due to the weather and with it deservedly became the side’s first League title for decades after they had won 10 of their matches, losing only 3 throughout the season. Only 12 overs of play were possible against Bearley who found themselves on 62-2 when the rain prevented any further play with teenager James Sparks 2-25 picking up both wickets. Skipper, Steve Kelley, said afterwards “The veterans and youngsters in the side have had a great and solid season, the best for many years with some great performances by many players. Winning the title is the icing on the cake for all their commitment and efforts. The youngsters have performed particularly well in Senior cricket this season and this can only bode well for the Club and its future. Well done to them and to all the others who have played for the side this year”.
