Sunday XI v. Knowle Village

The Sunday XI travelled to Knowle Village for their Division 3 Arden Sunday Cricket League match on Sunday 14th. July and won at a canter.

Skipper Dan Horner won the toss and asked Village to bat first, home opening pair of Lyons and Holmes were hoping for a solid start, but the Kenilworth bowlers never let them settle, as George Jeyaratnam soon had Lyons heading back to the pavilion, caught behind by George Baines for 5, Village 13 for 1. Bradley and Lyons then started a recovery, Bradley hit a six and two fours. Matt Casey, who replaced Jeyaratnam, had him caught at mid wicket by Charlie Stranks for 18, the home side 34 for 2, Tibbits was next man in, Holmes was then lbw to Christian Russ for 10, the home side 48 for 3. Casey then had Tibbits caught by Dan Horner for 15, now village were struggling on 56 for 4 in the 13th over. Charlie Stranks replaced Russ, and bowled Collard with his third ball, Collard out without scoring, 56 for 5 now, Stranks then had Bates caught at leg slip by George Jeyaratnam without score, now 58 for 6. Tom Skinner then replaced Stranks, he also quickly got amongst the wickets,, having Pemberton caught by Henry Curran at mid off with his first ball, Pemberton making 2, now the home side were 58 for 7. Skinner struck again in his next over, Mehmood caught by Christian Russ for 1, now on the brink, Knowle were 60 for 8. This became 60 for 9 in the next over, Casey having Hurley caught, Henry Curran making no mistake, Hurley out without score, 60 for 9. Christian Russ returned, replacing Skinner, and with the last ball of the 22nd over, had last man Ramadas caught behind by George Baines for 2, Knowle Village all out for just 69, Lane not out 6. For Kenilworth, Matt Casey took 3 for 8 from four overs, Charlie Stranks with 2 for 9 from three overs, Christian Russ with 2 for 26 from 6 overs, Tom Skinner with 2 for 1 from two overs and a wicket for George Jeyaratnam, 1 for 9 from six overs.

So needing just 70 to win, Kenilworth Openers Dan Horner and James Adamson looked to make a solid start, the pair made a fast start, both players finding the boundary early, they had put on 34 together when Horner picked out Ramadas at point, off the bowling of Hurley, Horner making 15, Ben Maney was in at three, he got off the mark straight away, also hitting a four, but on 6, Maney picked out Hurley at mid wicket off Lanes first ball, Kenilworth 56 for 2 in the tenth over, Adamson still going strong, now joined by number four Darius Potten-Ravenshad, Ravenshad off the mark with a leg glance for one, a boundary four and a single for Adamson, Kenilworth 66 for 2 at the end of the tenth over, Ramadas with his first ball, was dispatched by Adamson over square leg for six, and Kenilworth had won, ending on 72 for 2, winning by eight wickets after just 10.1 overs, Adamson ending 35 not out and Darius Potten-Ravenshad 1 not out. Kenilworth take 20 points.

KCC win by 8 wickets on the day that England somehow win the ICC World Cup in another incredible match!
