Sunday’s reports on a very sunny day

One win, One defeat

The Club managed to yet again get two sides out on an extremely sunny and hot Sunday afternoon that saw a defeat in the Arden Sunday League and knocked off top spot in the Division, whilst the side won their friendly match at home.

 

Sunday 1st XI

Kenilworth v. Bharat Sports

Arden Sunday League – Division 3 – 40 overs a side – W/L

LOSE

Bharat Sports 245-9 (20 points) (40 overs) beat Kenilworth 200-10 (38.3 overs) by 45 runs.

 

The 1st. XI slipped off top spot, albeit by only 3 points, in their Division 3 ASCL match following a 45 runs defeat to Bharat Sports who had posted 245-9 from their 40 overs with Wagle making 79, Shah 38 and Patel 20 for them. Kapil Dubey was Kenilworth’s most successful bowler taking 3-45, followed by Will Machin 2-18  and Jono Sparks 2-44 with Matt Casey and Charles Lamprecht each picking up a wicket. In the run chase, George Baines added 67 (9 x 4), Sparks 34 (5 x 4, 1 x 6), Shyaan Imam 30 (3 x 4) and Tom Skinner 14 not out for the Town but they were the only batsmen to reach double figues as the side were bowled out in the 39th. over for 200 as Rakesh took 5-32 and Nair 3-32 for the victorious hosts.

 

 

Sunday 2nd XI

Kenilworth v. Great Alne

40 overs a side friendly

WIN

Great Alne 166-7 (40 overs) lost to Kenilworth 167-1 by 9 wickets.

 

Kenilworth secured a 9 wicket win after restricting Great Alne to 166-7, despite Stanley making 74, Walters 42 and Chester 16. Yet, they were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Kenilworth’s junior, Anay Joshi, making his debut in Senior cricket took 2-7 and fellow youngster Sam Davis 2-35 with Sam Leach and Matt Dadswell taking a wicket each. Chris Prophet and Yash Joshi put on 94 for the 1st. wicket before Prophet departed after hitting 59 (6 x 4, 1 x 6). Joshi was then joined by Dhruv Vyas as the pair saw the side to the winning post and to 167-1 as Joshi ended unbeaten on 50 (3 x 4) and Vyas 34 not out (5 x 4, 1 x 6) with Birch 1-27 the sole Great Alne wicket taker.
