A happy Saturday for the 3 League sides as all win.

A hat trick of League victories as all sides on song

 

All three sides were in League action on Saturday and all three won, with the 1st. XI and 2nd. XI both posting over 200 runs.

 

 

1st XI

Kenilworth v. Four Oaks Saints

Warwickshire Cricket League Division 1 – W/L – 50 overs a side.

WON

Four Oaks Saints 231-10 (4 points) (48.1 overs) lost to Kenilworth 234-4 (20 points) (43.5 overs) by 6 wickets.

 

Kenilworth’s opening pair of Joe Atkinson and Tom Booker set up the 1st. XI’s win as the side successfully chased down Four Oaks’ score of 231-10 with 6 overs to spare. The duo put on 103 for the first wicket as Booker hit 60 (10 x 4, 1 x 6) in their partnership, whilst player of the day, Atkinson went onto to make a match winning unbeaten 94 (8 x 4), as he put on a further 66 runs with Pat Howard who made 35 (4 x 4, 1 x 6) and then 29 runs with Stuart Cope 17 not out (3 x 4) as the side comfortably reached the winning post and 234-4 with Khatkar taking 2-66 for the visitors.  Earlier, Four Oaks had Zaman 66, Griffith 55 and Wright 28 to thank for posting their 200+ run score but Kenilworth’s bowlers had been on song with 5 taking wickets – Darius Potten-Ravenshad 3-34, Steve Rhodes 2-38, Atkinson 2-42, Matt Casey 2-50 and Cope the other wicket to fall on a day that belonged to Kenilworth and Atkinson.

 

 

2nd XI

Kenilworth v. Studley

Warwickshire Cricket League – Division 7 East – W/L – 50 overs a side.

WON

Kenilworth 228-8 (20 points) (50 overs) beat Studley 189-10 (5 points) (47.7 overs) by 39 runs.

 

The 2nd. XI posted 228-8 in their 39 runs victory at Studley after Shyaan Imam top scored with 39 (4 x 4), Dave Edmunds 35 (6 x 4), Jono Sparks 34 not out (3 x 4), Dave Smithson 29 and Charlie Stranks 23 not out (2 x 4) in a solid batting performance. Berill took 3-46 and Hunt 2-31 for the hosts. Despite Lewis hitting 61, no other scores of note were achieved for Studley as in form spinner Tom Skinner claimed the wickets of their top three batsmen with a 3-20 spell. Ed Smith wrapped up the match as he took the last two wickets to fall ending with 4-34. Jono Sparks took 2-45 and Imam the other wicket to fall as Studley were bowled out for 189 and hand Kenilworth 2’s another good League win.

 

 

3rd. XI

Kenilworth v. Bretforton

Cotswold Hills Cricket League – Division 6 – W/L – 40 overs a side.

WON

Kenilworth 174-5 (20 points) (40 overs) beat Bretforton 137-10 (4 points) (35 overs) by 37 runs.

 

Kenilworth’s top of the table clash with Bretforton went their way to consolidate their lead in the Division as the side recorded another win. The side posted 174-5 as Yash Joshi made 50 not out (5 x 4) putting on an unbeaten 67 runs partnership with Will Thompson 24 not out (3 x 4) after Steve Kelley had earlier made 23, Keeran Umashanker 21 and Josh Charlwood 20. In reply, Bretforton struggled with the Kenilworth bowling line up as opener Charlwood although wicketless conceded only 8 runs from his 9 overs spell. Will Sheehan removed the top four batsmen with a fine 4-31 whilst Matt Dadswell claimed 4-27 from his 9 overs as the mid order collapsed. Danny Boneham claimed a wicket. Number 7 Davies made 41 for Bretforton, Beale 22 and number 10, Unwin 21 not out but the side were bowled out for 137 as a run out by Charlwood took the final wicket of day to seal a good win for the side to maintain their promotion aspirations and Divisional title hopes.
