KENILWORTH LOST BY 20 RUNS 

Leek Wootton 198-5 (40 overs) beat Kenilworth 178-5 (40 overs) by 20 runs

 

Kenilworth fell short by 20 runs in their friendly match against neighbours, Leek Wootton who had posted 198-5 off their 40 overs  with their skipper and former Town player, Elliot Sorrell-Haynes hitting 67 (12 x 4) and Lota 39 as the pair put on 117 runs for the first wicket whilst Ward made an unbeaten 25. The wickets were shared by 5 Town bowlers as Matt Dadswell, Tom Best, Matt Casey, Will Sheehan and Henry Curran took a wicket each. In the run chase, youngster Joe Tait and Gareth Knights put on 91 runs for the 2nd. wicket. Tait hit 7 boundaries in his maiden 50 in Senior cricket as he made a fine 53. Knights chipped in with 37, Curran making 33, Louis Smithson 19 not out and an unbeaten 10 but overs ran out and the side had to settle on 178-5 when time was called. Couchman the pick of the Leek Wootton as he claimed 4-26.
