Katie bags two wickets on debut
Sunday 10th. July
On Sunday history was made at the Club (well, in living memory!) when a 16 year old female, Katie Farrell, played in the Sunday XI and on debut took two wickets. It is believed that this is the first time that a female has turned out and played in Senior Club cricket at the Club, although it did have a Ladies team way back in the 1930’s.
Kenilworth v. Barford
Friendly – 40 overs a side – Win/Lose format
KENILWORTH WON BY 57 RUNS
Kenilworth 241-8 (40 overs) (6 points) beat Barford 184-10 (35.2 overs) by 57 runs.
16 year old, Katie Farrell, capped a fine debut in the Sunday XI’s match against Barford taking 2-18 in the side’s 57 runs win. Fellow debutant, Yougunn Prakasm Kumar also took 2-14.
Batting first, the Sunday XI posted 241-8 in their innings as in form youngster Joe Tate made 74 (5 x 4, 2 x 6) and Dhruv Vyas a hard hitting 71 (8 x 4, 1 x 6) as the pair put on 138 runs together for the 4th. wicket. Colt, Louis Smithson, also chipped in with 24. Andrew O’Reilly took 3 wickets and Henderson two for Barford. In reply, opener Higgins made 52, Morgan 37, Tobin 23 and Paterson 20 in the Barford total of 184.
Yet, the day will be remembered for Katie’s debut into Senior cricket at the Club, the first female and for Yougunn’s debut that saw both of them rewarded with a brace of wickets apiece whilst the other 5 Town bowlers took a wicket each.
