Huge 1st XI Win

Saturday 1st XI

On 31 August the first eleven hosted Warwick CC, with Kenilworth winning the toss and electing to field first.

Warwick were bowled out for 161 in the final over of their innings, as Kenilworth took full bowling points. Umair Mushtaq was the main contributor for the away side who was bowled by Sandeep Kumar for 66 off 129 deliveries . For the home side, every bowler returned at least one wicket . The best figures however were Joe Atkinson taking 3 for 57 and Sandeep Kumar with 2 for 8. Waj Chohan claimed 2 for 26 and DPR 2 for 32, Steve Rhodes also contributing 1 for 27 off his 11 overs.

 

Kenilworth in reply made light work of chasing the below par total. A 93 run opening partnership between Joe Atkinson and Stu Cope set the platform for the middle order to comfortably finish the chase. Stu Cope was the highest contributor with 54, followed by opening partner Atkinson on 36. Captain Adam Huxford was not out at the end to see the K’s over the line with a useful 25 off 17.

Kenilworth take a 20 points from that win.

Saturday 2nd XI

The second eleven travelled to high flying Griff and Coton, where Kenilworth won the toss and decided to bat first.

On an exceptionally tricky wicket Kenilworth battled to 110 All out in the 48th over. Contributing runs down the order was 31 from Ahsan Nadeem and Shyaan Imam with a battling 21 from number 3. For the hosts all bowlers contributed wickets , Stephen Shaw with 3 for 31 and Girijakumari 2 for 5. Kumar was also incredibly economical with 1 for 8 from his 10 overs.

Griff just got over the line whilst eight down in the 31st over. 30 from Rana was the top scorer accompanied by Kadungassery with 29. For the K’s Charlwood claimed 1 for 24 and Tom Skinner 3 for 32. The best figures however were 4 for 20 from Sam Leach.

Kenilworth lost narrowly by two wickets and take 3 points from the game.

Saturday 3rd XI

In their last game of the season the 3rd eleven hosted Alvechurch and Hopwood , where the away side won the toss and elected to field first.

Ben Kelley top scored with 35 opening the batting, the next highest contributors being Matt Dadswell and Krishna Alluri who both made 22. For the visitors, Joe Williams, Evans and Jenkins all claimed a wicket a piece. Sam Williams took 2 for 24 whilst Pinfield returned exceptional figures of 5 for 12 as Kenilworth were bowled out for 137.

 

In reply Alvechurch and Hopwood fell five runs short of the total whilst 6 wickets down. Reck- Smith was the highest scorer with 31 with William Glover also making 20. For the K’s , Ben Kelley took 1 and Ben Clarke 2 wickets as Dan Hone claimed a 3 for 34, the home side bowling economically to win the game, winning Kenilworth 17 points to finish the season and cement there place in the division having been promoted the year before, finishing 7th overall.
