1st XI Home vs Walmley CC 2nd XI
Walmley won the toss and elected to bat first on a sun baked day at Warwick Road.
Tidy opening Spells from Paul Lawrence (2-28) and Steve Rhodes (1-29) restricted the visitors to 2 for 30 early. Despite some small partnerships and a top score from Shackleford (67), Kenilworth continued taking wickets at regular intervals, to eventually bowl out Walmley for 177 in favorable batting conditions. Connor Shingler’s spell of 4-22 from 10 was the pick for the town, with Stu Copes 3-27 rounding out a fine bowling display.
1st XI take 20 points and climb to 2nd in the WCL Division 2.
2nd XI Away vs Nether Whitacre CC 2nd XI
Kenilworth won the toss and elected to bat first.
Wayward bowling (75 extras) and an impressive knock from Louis Smithson (60) helped lead the visitors to an impressive first innings total. Anay Joshi (40) also made a middle order contribution alongside Danny Boneham (31) to carry Kenilworth to 307 all out.
In reply, Nether Whitacre were well in the hunt thanks to a quickfire 108 from opener Nick Edwards, in his inaugural game of the season, however after he was dismissed by Matt Bain (3-61) Kenilworth managed to slow the chase thanks to frequent wickets, with the hosts eventually falling 16 short all out for 291 on the last ball of the innings. Louis Smithson (3-73) was the other Kenilworth bowler to strike more than once, as Josh Charlwood, Babu and Tom Skinner all took a wicket a piece.
Kenilworth earn 20 points, as they remain 2nd in the WCL Division 7 East.
3rd XI Home vs The Lenches CC 2nd XI
The 3rd XI continued their unbeaten season as they hosted The Lenches at their Harbury home.
Impressive opening Spells from Ben Kelley (3-8) and Matty Dadswell (3-18) saw the visitors reduced to 25-6, who only reached their total of 84 thanks to a lower order partnership from Flood (35) and Yorke-Brooks (13) as Sam Davies (2-22) mopped up the tail.
In reply, Kenilworth broke the back of the chase with an opening partnership of 60 from Peter Huxford (10) and Uma Shanker continuing his impressive early season form with a fine 50 not out. With a small wobble, Gareth Knights (1*) hit the winning run in the 20th over as Kenilworth secured an impressive 8 wicket victory, finishing 85/2.
Kenilworth take 21 points for their win and remain 2nd in the CHL division 5.
