1st XI Away vs Coventry & North Warwickshire CC 2nd XI
On the hottest day of the year so far, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first.
Kenilworth found early wickets hard to come by, as the Coventry & NW top order made runs in perfect batting conditions. Spin proved most effective for Kenilworth with Connor Shingler (3-34) and Darius Potten-Ravenshad (2-30) providing the best returns. Two wickets a piece for Joe Atkinson and Stu Cope helped restrict the hosts with Paul Lawrence taking the remaining wicket, to set a target of 230 to win. Afzal with the top score of 68.
1st XI take 6 points and drop to 4th in the WCL Division 2.
2nd XI Home vs Dorridge CC 3rd XI
Kenilworth were inserted by Dorridge in their league game at Warwick Road.
A steady start by the openers set an excellent platform with Kenilworth bringing up their 100 in 28 overs, however only 1 wicket down. The side accelerated and thanks to three 50 partnerships and scores for Dan Horner (62), Chris Prophet (42), and run-a-ball 30’s for Babu, Jono Sparks, and Matt Smith, finished on a respectable 255/6 from their 50 overs.
Ben Clark struck twice in the first 3 overs with the new ball, as an inexperienced Dorridge side struggled with the disciplined Kenilworth bowlers, with the only resistance coming from Hooper (35) and Henrick (31). Tom Skinner with a frugal 3-19 form his 10 overs, Babu and Josh Charlwood taking 2 wickets each along with 1 for Louis Smithson. Bowling out Dorridge for 143 to complete an impressive performance.
Kenilworth earn 20 points, as they remain 2nd in the WCL Division 7 East.
3rd XI Away vs Moreton-in-Marsh CC 2nd XI
The 3rd XI won the toss and elected to bat first as they visited picturesque Morton-in-Marsh.
The Kenilworth top order struggled until an impressive 5th wicket partnership between Matt Bain (62) and Dhruv Vyas (52) helped to take Kenilworth to a respectable total of 181 all out. Townsend and Gandon taking 3 wickets each for the hosts.
Matt Bain rounded out an impressive display taking a crucial 2 wickets in the second innings as the rain made an appearance in the Cotswolds. The a wicket a piece for the other three bowlers used, Sam Davies, Ben Kelley and Matty Dadswell as the hosts were 90/5 when the rain came in the 26th over. Kenilworth winners by 23 runs on DLS.
Kenilworth take 18 points for their win and remain 2nd in the CHL division 5.
