Saturday 1st XI
The first eleven hosted Dunlop Stars, restricting the visitors to 146 all out, thanks to a Steve Rhodes 5-41, and 3-36 from Tom Skinner.
Losing a wicket first ball of the innings, the Kenilworth reply struggled losing wickets just as partnerships began to form. The final wicket falling with Kenilworth 11 short, finishing 126 all out in 45 overs.
Kenilworth take 4 points from the game and remain 10th in WCL Division 2
Saturday 2nd XI
The second eleven travelled to Bedworth, losing the toss and being asked to bat, on a difficult surface.
Starting strong with a defiant opening stand before Shyaan Imam (36) was dismissed at 96-1. Smaller contributions around an impressive knock from captain Matt Bain (52) helped take Kenilworth to 200 all out in the final over.
After the break, the hosts started their chase in an aggressive style, but were no match from a sharp new ball spell for Josh Charlwood, as her returned 3-19 from 9 overs. Dan hone also taking 3-34, including a key wicket to break a 60 partnership threating to see the hosts home. All other bowlers used taking 1 wicket each as Kenilworth bowled out their hosts and won by 51 runs.
Kenilworth take 20 points from the game and sit 10th in WCL Division 6 East.
Saturday 3rd XI
The third eleven visited Lapworth and had a day to remember as they lost the toss and were asked to bat first.
Captain Steve Kelley making an unbeaten 68 at the number 3 spot. 35 from Ben Clarke and 49 extras helped Kenilworth to 194/7 from their 40 overs.
Lapworth looked comfortable in reply, reaching 100-3 with an 80 partnership, however it was the introduction of Matty Dadwell’s spin that turned the game. as he ripped through the hosts batting line up taking 7-18 from just 5 overs. An impressive return, well done Matty.
Kenilworth take 23 points from the game and climb to 8th in CHL division 4.
Sunday (Saturday 2nd XI)
On Sunday, the Saturday 2nd XI hosted Coventry Blues, as a rearranged fixture from earlier in the season where the Coventry Blues ground was not available.
Winning the toss and batting first, the 2nd XI struggled to continue their batting form from Saturday as they were bowled out for 130 inside 44 overs. Bain (35) and Imam (26) top scoring again, in a below par performance with two runouts, Kandy taking 6-28 in 4 overs for the visitors.
Kenilworth made a valiant effort with the ball and in the field to defend their total. Tom Skinner returning 4-32, with 4 other bowlers used taking 1 each. Taking their guests close as they reached the target 8 down.
Coventry Blues win by 2 wickets and Kenilworth take 3 points from the game.
