1st. XI v. Fillongley

On Saturday 11th May, Kenilworth made the trip to Fillongley for their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division One fixture and came away with a 5 wicket win, their second of the 2019 League campaign.
Winning the toss, Kenilworth asked home side Fillongley to bat first. The home side lost opener Riley run out for no score, Fillongley 5 for 1, that became 14 for 2 then 14 for 3, when the other opener Closing was bowled by Muhammed Naeem for 12 and the same fate for number four batsman Ali, gone without scoring, leaving the home side in trouble. A stand of 51 then between Skelding and Carty got their side to 64, before Skelding was bowled by Muhammed Fahim for 23, Fahim then had Ahsan Sayed caught by Henry Curran for no score and Muhammed Naeem then removed Daud Sayed for 1, thanks to the safe hands of Connor Shingler, as Fillongley rocked on 68 for 6.
Carty and Blackmore took the score to 90, when Carty was well held by Joey Poole off Muhammed Fahim for 38. Blackmore for 10 and Norman for 6, were both bowled by Muhammed Fahim, leaving the home side on 116 for 9. A counter attack from number ten Morgan, who hit a quick fire 29, when he was last man out, bowled by Muhammed Naeem, Fillongley were all out for 128 in 47.1 overs. Bowling honours for Kenilworth were Muhammed Fahim with a fine 5 for 47 from 12 overs and Muhammed Fahim with a superb 4 for 21 from 11.1 overs, special mention to opening bowler Joey Poole, who went wicketless, but bowled a fine spell , 12 overs for just 21 runs.
So Kenilworth knew that a solid start was key to their reply, but we’re soon in trouble, losing both openers early, Henry Curran bowled by Chad Sayed for 2 and Muhammed Fahim lbw to Ahsan Sayed for 7, the visitors under the pump on 9 for 2. Sunny Ahmed and Connor Shingler were now at the crease looking to get their side back in the game, together the pair began to get their side back into the game. They had put on a solid 53 together when Ahmed was bowled by Ahsan Sayed for 25, Kenilworth 64 for 3, Skipper Pete Magafas, playing his first game of the season joined Shingler, together putting on 22, when Connor Shingler was bowled by Ahsan Sayed for 28, Keeper Tom Booker joined skipper Magafas, together the pair got within touching distance of victory, but Magafas was bowled by Daud Sayed for 19, to leave Kenilworth on 121 for 5 but it was left to steady Tom Booker to hit the winning runs , as he finished 33 not out, Kenilworth finishing on 129 for 5 , after 29.3 overs, Kenilworth the winners by 5 wickets. For Fillongley, Ahsan Sayed took 3 for 29 off 12 overs and Daud Sayed 2 for 55 from 8 overs, Kenilworth take 20 points, to make it two wins from four matches played.
