Kenilworth seconds travelled to play Leamington Khalsa for their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division Eight fixture on Saturday 1st June and returned home as winners by 63 runs in their first win/lose fixture of the League campaign.
The Kenilworth openers Mark Stranks and skipper Dan Horner looked to make a strong start for their side, both players began to get the scoreboard moving, going on post 35 for no wicket in the tenth over, they went on take the score past fifty, in the 16th over, with the score on 67, when Mark Stranks was run out for 29. Danny Boneham joined his skipper, but Horner was bowled by Mayank for a solid 36, the visitors 69 for 2. Next man in Matt Casey joined Boneham, Casey looking in fine touch early on, with the score on 96, Boneham was caught and bowled by Kamal for 8. His wicket bought Ben Maney to the crease, together the pair were in a positive mind set, but Maney was bowled by Harry for 9, Kenilworth 113 for 4 in 34th over. Darius Potten-Ravenshad joined Matt Casey, both players began to put their side in a good position, good running and frequent boundaries, saw Kenilworth accelerate to 158 for 4 in the 40th over, Potten-Ravenshad was caught off Hardip for 26, the visitors now 188 for 5 in the 44th over. Charles Lamprecht was stumped off Hardip for 4, Kenilworth 202 for 6. Charlie Stranks along with Matt Casey looked to give their side a strong finish, Stranks made an aggressive 27, but Casey went on make a fine 65, his innings containing 7 x 4. Sam leach 7 not out, a couple of late wickets, saw Kenilworth all out for 243 in the last of their fifty overs. For Khalsa, Hardip took 6 for 46 from ten overs.
In the Khalsa reply, Mayak and Sidhu made decent start for their side, putting on over fifty for the first wicket, Sam leach bowled Mayak for 30, Chris Beach had Sidhu caught by Dan Horner for 34. Khalsa lost two more quick wickets, Indy for no score and Charles for 2, both dismissed by Sam leach, Chris Beach had Mandeep brilliantly caught by Charlie Stranks for 15, Beach then bowled Kumai for no score, the home side now six down, still a long way from their target. Mick hit a quick fire 34 for Khalsa and Harry 24, both players out to the bowling of Tom Skinner. Two wickets for Charles Lamprecht saw the home side all out for 180 in the 40th over, Vish ending 14 not out, Kenilworth running out the winners by 63 runs with over ten overs remaining. Wicket takers for Kenilworth were Chris Beach with 3 for 43 from ten overs, Sam leach with 3 for 52 from ten overs, Tom Skinner with 2 for 15 and 2 for 30 from 8.5 overs for Charles Lamprecht. Kenilworth take the full 20 points for their fine efforts.
