Solihull stroll to victory on a windy day

2nd XI v. Solihull Municipal

LOSE

On Saturday 27th April, Kenilworth hosted Solihull Municipal second team for their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division Eight fixture.

Put into bat , the home side struggled and lost opener Dan Horner for 4 off the bowling of Mehmood. 17 for 1 became 17 for 2 when Danny Boneham was run out without scoring. When David Barclay was dismissed by Davis for no score and Darius Potten-Ravenshad fell to the same bowler for 4, Kenilworth were really struggling on 39 for 4, this became 51 for 5 when Mark Stranks was out for 23 to Mehmood. Ben Maney added 19 and Sam Leach 10, but the home side were really struggling against an accurate Municipal bowling attack. Steve Rhodes struck a quick fire 33 (4 x4, 1 x 6), but Kenilworth were all out for just 113 in only 28.3 of their fifty overs. Cox with 3 for 23 was the pick of the Municipal attack with two wickets each for Mehmood, Acton and Davis for the visitors.

So after the tea interval, Solihull Municipal looked to chase down the home side’s score with openers Clements and Tisdell who put on a 100 run partnership to set them on the road to victory which they easily achieved inside 33 overs as they coasted to 117-2. Clements was unbeaten on 67. Tisdale made 20. The Kenilworth’s wicket takers on their luckless day were Nick Moore with 1-9 and Danny Boneham 1-22.
