On Saturday 1st June, Kenilworth hosted Nuneaton for their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division One fixture at their Warwick Road ground and were soundly thrashed in a match that lasted less than 34 overs as visitors Nuneaton won the toss and elected to field.
The Kenilworth openers, skipper Pete Magafas and Connor Shingler, both men looked assured early on, but after reaching 31 after eight overs, Benn removed Shingler and Muhammad Fahim in the ninth over, Shingler for 19 and Fahim for no score, Kenilworth 32 for 2. Ison then removed Chris Prophet in the next over, caught for 2, Kenilworth 36 for 3. Sunny Ahmed joined Magafas, together the pair began to rebuild the sides innings, together they went on to bat together for six overs, putting on 18 before Ahmed was bowled by Benn for 2, Henry Curran then was bowled without scoring, Kenilworth now 54 for 5 in the 17th over. Kenilworth then went from 54 for 5 to 64 for 9 on three overs, Tom Booker for 5, Muhammed Naeem for no score, Steve Rhodes for 3 and Pete Magafas for 19, Illias then bacame Biskas second wicket for no score, Kenilworth all out for a paltry 67 in only twenty overs. For Nuneaton, Benn took a brilliant 6 for 18 from ten overs, Biskas with 2 for 11 from four overs.
The Nuneaton openers Cox and Carell looked to get there sides reply off to a positive start, after three overs the visitors were 28 without loss, Carvell was dismissed for 5 in the fourth over, caught by Connor Shingler off Steve Rhodes, the visitors 28 for 1. Andrew joined Cox, the pair took the score to 49 when Andrew was run out for 10, Gilkes and Cox then saw their side home, Cox 32 not out and Gilkes 13 not out saw their side home in the 13th over, Nuneaton finishing on 68 for 2. Steve Rhodes the only wicket taker with 1 for 28. Kenilworth pointless for their efforts, on day the home side will want to forget.
