Bottom side Khalsa give the 2’s a lesson

On Saturday 17th. August, the 2’s hosted bottom side Leamington Khalsa at our Warwick Road Ground in their Division 8 fixture in the Warwickshire County Cricket League for their 50 overs a side match that saw the return of win/lose/draw cricket for the remaining 5 matches of this season’s League programme and the visitors were rewarded with a 5 wicket win that sees them up move a place in the Division whilst the 2’s remain in 7th. spot.

The 2nd. XI started well and put of 31 for the first wicket but then lost their next two without moving along the score. A 25 run partnership took the side to 56-4 and there was a further 25 run partnership for the sixth wicket as the side reached 81-5. All batsmen made starts but could not progress. The side then slumped to 106 all out, losing there last six wickets for 25 runs.

Vyas hit 19, Tobin 16, Leach 14, Maney 12, Poole 11 and Casey 11 as Mayank took 3-31 and Adil 3-13 for Khalsa.

In reply, the visitors wobbled on 21-3 and 38-4 until Adil and Indy came together and put on 45 for the 5th. wicket to steady the nerves. Adil made 30 before he was run out but Indy remained steadfast to hit an unbeaten 31 and along with Ranjeet with an unbeaten 14 saw the side over the winning line as in the end they comfortably reached 109-5 without any further scares.

For the 2nd.’s,  Joe Poole took 2-16 from 11 frugal overs, whilst Matt Casey claimed 1-20 from his 10 overs and Sam Leach 1-21 from 7.3 overs.
