2’s batsmen choke after Wilnecote are bowled out for 144

The Seconds hosted Wilnecote 1’s at our Warwick Road Ground on Saturday 31st. August in their Division 8 Warwickshire County Cricket League 50 overs a side fixture and bowled out the visitors for 144 but a poor batting performance replying saw the side bowled out for 88 to lose the match by 56 runs.
 
An excellent bowling performance by the side had them in command as Joe Poole took 3-37 from 7.2 overs and youngster Dan Roden  3-37 from his 9 overs removing  Lane for 33 and Davies 31 who had put on 60 runs in their 4th. wicket partnership that saw Wilnecote improve from 40-3 to 100-4. Wily Geoff Edmunds also chipped in to take a frugal 2-8 from 7 overs whilst Chris Beech took 1-14 from his 8 overs. Drew Vyas clung on the 3 catches in the outfield.
 
However, in reply, the 2’s soon found themselves in trouble at 10-2 then 14-3. The side recovered to 41-4 as Will Machin and Vyas put on 27 runs in their partnership. Vyas at 5 went onto make 20 hitting a six and two boundaries before he fell. The side then further slumped to 42-6, losing 3 wickets for one run. Mid order Sam Leach at 6 steadied the ship for a while hitting a fine 29 with 5 boundaries. They were in the end the only players to reach double figures. After reaching  at 63-7 and edging their way to 88-7 the side then lost their last 3 wickets without moving the score along as the Wilnecote bowlers took full control to wrap up the 2’s innings and bowled the 2’s out inside 25 overs, with Goodridge taking 4-13 and Crampin 4-31 on a poor batting day for Kenilworth.
